Here are the notes from the first league meeting of 2001 which took place on 1/28, Super
Bowl Sunday. There really aren't any major rule changes this year. The biggest change is
that all playoff games will be 9 innings including the double header games.
Still using wood bats this year
Using same balls as last year
Umpiring costs will be going up this year from $60 to $65 for 9 inning games, 7 inning games will still be $60
All teams must pay $650 to the league by March 15.
The schedule will remain at 18 games with each team playing every team twice.
The double headers are switched this year with the American League getting two home double headers.
We are starting on April 29th and NOT playing on Mother's Day this year. However we are NOT taking a weekend off for July 4th so the playoffs will begin on August 26th.
Only 4 teams from each division will make the playoffs, the 5th place teams will play each other for a consolation game. The second round of the playoffs will be best 2-3. Same goes for the Championship series.
Playoff eligibility:
You must play in half your teams games to be eligible, if your team plays 17 or 18 games you must have played in 9, if your team plays 15 or 16 games you must have played in 8
Each team will be allowed 2 extra playoff spots for players who played in at least 4 games but these extra players can't pitch in the playoffs
Rich Schwarz will work out collection of the game day rosters and keep track of playoff eligibility on the website.
The webmaster will be receiving a stipend this year.
To clarify forfeits, the winning team gets playoff eligibility for players at the field, not every player on the roster.
Players thrown out of a game will owe the League a $25 dollar fine and will not be allowed to play another game until the fine is paid.
There will be a League All-Star game this year at Feely field the weekend after the season ends. Every team will send 4 players.
We will look into getting a field for a potential Sunday night "Game of the Week". More updates to follow on this.
The Championship series will be played at Feely field this year.
