Congratulations to the Cubs for their second straight league title in 2009.
With the 2010 season ready to start on April 25th, the off-season has officially come to an end!
For 2010, there have been several changes related to the management of the league. Several teams will be
under new management this year. We wish all of the new Managers the best of luck. The league rules document
has been updated. The biggest change was the decision to make all playoff games 9-innings. Beyond that, you
will find a clarification of the base running rules under "conduct" and a new rule as it relates to the proper
use of a "courtesy runner". Please see the 2010 rules document for a full update.
In addition to some rules changes, and several new Managers, the league has a new President in 2010. As
you all know, the Rich Schwarz has served as President of the league for several years. Rich did a masterful
job of supporting the team Managers and making sure the league stayed true to its mission. A true and
honorable representative of the league, Rich's shoes will be hard to fill. At a league Manager's meeting
this past off-season, Andrew Calkins was voted in as the new league President. As per league rules, Andrew
will serve as league President for an initial 3-year term.
Founded in 1994, 2010 will be the league's 17th season. With a new team added in 2009, several new players
added over the last few seasons, and multiple off-season inquiries from new teams looking to join the league,
the MetroWest Adult Baseball League is going strong.
As in our previous seasons, we will have holiday weekends off for Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Independence
Day and Labor Day. I look forward to another tremendous season and hope all players and their families have
a healthy and enjoyable season!
